Vimala Raman, was in Sydney recently to attend her close friend Jinnie De’s (now Jinnie Nassar) wedding.
Born and brought up in Australia Vimala Raman is now a well known south Indian actor based in India. After winning the Miss India Australia crown in 2004, Vimala Raman has become a household name in South Indian films. A Bharatnatyam ( Indian classical) trained dancer, Vimala, who represented Australia and featured as top 5 in the Miss India Worldwide contest in Mumbai in 2005, took a decision to move to India as her rich talent had no real opportunities in Australia.Vimala has since not looked back - completed over 15 feature films in South India. Her first break came back in 2005 when the doyen of Indian cinema, K Balachandran, (Roza fame), casted Vimala in his 99th film “POI” as one of the lead female actors. Vimala’s latest film “DAM999″ (Hollywood/UAE Prodcution) is nearing completion and should be released later in 2011.
Jinnie De’s Sydney Wedding:
It was a culturally rich Modern Australian Indian wedding with a complete Hindu ceremony at the landmark Star City in Sydney followed by a lavish dinner. There was also a white wedding ceremony, on another day, with an impressive Australian Lebanese reception. The bride Jinnie, Vimala and all the bride maids Faaizah, Ruby, Sandy looked stunning on both days.
