The Pearl Academy of Fashion exhibited the enthralling work of its Graduating session 2010-11 through a series of events and exhibitions in India. These covered the works of design students in fashion, textile and communication field from Academy’s centres across India at Delhi, Jaipur and Chennai.
‘Portfolio’, a highly awaited event of the Academy marks the aptitude, originality, innovation and exquisite ingenious skills of the fashion design students at all the 3 centres.
Showcased on 22nd May, 2011; Portfolio’11 of Delhi students saw 56 Collections from 4 year B.A. Hons. Programme and 17 Collections from students enrolled in 2 year P.G. Programme. Renowned Designers Shantanu and Nikhil graced the occasion as the Chief Guests. The Collections presented an amalgamated mix of varied design styles. The vivid styles arrayed ranged from bohemian chic to traditional to Avant Garde to functional yet practical to name a few. The designers looked poised, determined and confident. The event was glamorized with the presence of established models walking the ramp for the talented designers. The event concluded on a victorious note with Jury Awards awarded to the Best Collections.
Portfolio’11 of students from Jaipur and Chennai centres offered a resplendent variety of Collections that reflected traditional Indian motifs and incorporated enhanced contemporary cuts and techniques.
The Academy showcased the best design creations of the students across the 3 centres at ‘The Finale Portfolio 2011’, at Grand Hotel, New Delhi on 4th June, 2011. Well reckoned designer, Tarun Tahiliani graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event was promising and showcased a splendid variety of design styles and surface techniques. Each Collection represented a distinct signature style of the designer. The event was also marked with the presence of established models like Amanpreet Wahi and Joey Matthew walking the ramp in the deigners’ creations.
The other events at the Academy included Thread Works ’11, Open Works ’11 and Synthesis’11 that exhibited the works of graduating students from textile design, communication design and fashion business fields.
Thread Works’11, the graduating event of textile design students was organised on 22nd May,2011 amidst the presence of Mr Sumeet, CEO, Raj Overseas; Mr. Anchal Jain, founder of NUN and Mr. Rakesh Agarwal as the Chief Guest. 26 graduating students from B.A. Hons.Programme showcased their works in the form of Apparel, home furnishings, floor coverings, accessories, pet’s collection etc.
Open Works’11 showcased on 28th May, 2011at India Habitat Centre displayed innovative and skilled projects under one platform. Based on varied themes, the exhibition showcased the works of the students in different mediums like print on different surfaces, moving graphics, videos, etc.
Conclusively, the Academy managed to showcase a successful presentation of the final projects of its graduating session 2010-11 through the exhilirating events and exhibitions.
