Alana Seebaran, from Guyana, took the 21st Miss India Worldwide 2012 crown, the  1st runner up was Anvita Sudarshan (Kuwait) and Olivia Rose (Australia) took the the 2nd runner up title in the  capital Paramaribo, Suriname on 25 February 2012.

The 2011 winner, Ankita Ghazan of Australia, crowned Alana Seebaran in front of a packed audience of over 800 people, judges, guests and celebrities from Bollywood. While well known Bollywood actor, Aftab Shivdansani, honored Alana Seebaran with the official sash. Bollywood actress Aarti Chhabria entertained the audience with a powerful dance performance supported by talented local Surinamese dancers.

The first eliminations left 11 finalists out of  35 contestants’, which was a pleasant surprise for the local Miss India Surianme, Varsha Ramrattan, who was called in last to make it in the top 11.

Top 5 - Olivia Rose, Anvita Sudarshan, Deena Uppal, Varsha Ramrattan and Alana Seebaran. The top 5 were required to write down their individual answers to the same question within a specified time and then had to speak out the answer. Almost like an exam, few of the finalists took a long time to write their answer than the others. In the end the nerves were relieved when the final 3 winners were announced!
On the night there were also sub titles given, this time there were 12 sub titles given, the largest number for this pageant which was understandable as there were 35 countries taking part in 2012, the largest representaion is the history of this pageant. Though regular countries like Nepal and Fiji were missed in Suriname in 2012,  the newer European countries like Germany, Spain, Switzerland boosted the overeas delegation.

Update 23 Febuary 2012: Pallavi Sharda’s film “Dus Tola” was screened as the opening film in the Bollywood film festival in Suriname, South America on 21 Febuary as part of Miss India Worldwide 2012. Bollywood Actress Aarti Chhabria was present at the screening.

Update: 10 January 2012 - Pallavi Sharda has signed to play Stephen Curry’s girlfriend in a new Australian film “Save Your Legs” - HERALD SUN

Former Miss India Australia (2010) PALLAVI SHARDA, originally from Melbourne, Australia, talks about her new Bollywood film “LOVE, BREAKUPS & ZINDAGI” (LBZ) due to be released on 7 October 2011.
