In March 2010 brace up for a heady concoction of sun, sand and Indian glamour as India’s fashion fatale Michelle Salins is set to represent India at the prestigious 12th Annual Miami International Fashion Week (MIFW).
The MIFW has been the desire of many a popular designers such as Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Arora and Rina Dhaka, who have been prominent participants of MIFW.
Having aptly named her collection, ‘The Jewel Tones of India’ being showcased on 20th March at the Miami’s trendy Wynwood Art District, Michelle says of her collection, “This season I have designed a collection that explores the culture & color of our Incredible India! Silks in Satins, Tulle, Velvets, Georgettes, and chiffons draped luxuriously depict the harmony of India with silhouettes that take the heritage of India to the western world.”
Michelle’s use of embellishment like Swarovski crystal, Indian hand embroidery like zardosi & sequin & bead add the glamour quotient to her sophisticated and elegant, red carpet gowns & dresses which pronounce an otherwise western silhouette.
Youthful, vibrant and creative are just a few words to describe Michelle Salins. Having worked in close association with silk weavers in South India, Michelle understands the intricate use of fabrics and textures. Colours, embellishment like crystal, sequin & bead and a contemporary usage of fabrics are a few characteristics of a Michelle Salins’ design.
Palins has done several runway shows associated with brands like The Taj, AUDI and Pinky Vodka and has exclusively designed gift packing for the Sultan of Oman.
